ReviewsDay Tuesday! (On a Wednesday…)
This weekend I reread Rainbow Rowell’s Eleanor & Park for no other reason than that I could, and I’m still having feelings. Eleanor & Park is a lovely YA novel set in 1987 that tells a story of unlikely love in hopeless situations. Set over the course of a school year, Eleanor and Park fall in love slowly but completely: you’ll laugh and cry and shake your fist as the characters you’re sure to fall in love with meet barrier after barrier—and make it through every single time.
I’m going to recommend this to anyone who wants a love story but is tired of the typical “pretty girl meets attractive boy and her life is immediately a thousand times better” trope. If you’re looking for something silly and meaningful and with a million 80s pop culture references, this is the novel for you.
